What are cookies?

Cookies are small text strings that the user’s visited websites (so-called Publisher or “first-party” sites) or different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”) position and store – directly, in the case of Publishers and indirectly, i.e. through the latter, in the case of “third parties” – within a terminal unit available to the user himself (e.g. PC, tablet, smartphone, or any other information storing device).

Internet browsing software may store cookies and then retransmit them to the sites that generated them during a subsequent visit by the same user, thus keeping in mind his previous interaction with one or more web pages.

The information encoded in cookies may include personal data, such as an IP address, a username, a unique identifier, or an email address, but may also contain non-personal data, such as language settings.

Types of Cookies
Technical cookies

These are used solely for the transmission of a communication on an electronic communication network or as strictly necessary in order for the service provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide the service (cf. Art. 122, paragraph 1, Legislative Decree n. 196/2003). These cookies allow the User, for example, to view the site, to make it work correctly, to create your account, or to log in. Technical cookies are essential for the correct functioning of certain sections of the site and do not require the user’s consent.

Technical cookies can be divided into two categories: persistent and session:

Persistent: Once the browser is closed, they are not destroyed but are preserved until a predefined expiration date;
Session: they are destroyed whenever the browser is closed.
Analytical cookies

The cookies in this category are used to collect information about the use of the Site. They are comparable to technical cookies only if: are used for the sole purpose of producing aggregate statistics and in relation to a single website or a single mobile application; the fourth component of the IP address is masked for third-party analytics cookies; third parties refrain from combining these minimised analytics cookies with other processing or transmitting them to further third parties. The installation of such cookies does not require the prior consent of users.

Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are used to identify certain subjects, identified or identifiable, specific recurring action or behavioural patterns in the use of the features offered (patterns) for grouping different profiles into homogeneous clusters of different sizes, so that the owner can also increasingly customise the provision of the service beyond what is strictly necessary for the provision of the service, as well as sending targeted advertising messages, i.e. in line with the preferences expressed by the user during web browsing. They can only be installed with the user’s consent.

Types of Cookies used by SAN MARCO

SAN MARCO only uses essential technical cookies for the correct functioning of the Site, ensuring its basic functionalities and security features, anonymously. For these cookies, the user’s consent is not required as they are necessary to provide the requested services.

Management through the dedicated “manage cookies” area

The Site’s homepage features a cookie wall that summarizes the categories of cookies on the Site and allows for their management.

Users can always analytically choose the functionalities, third parties, and cookies they wish to install, as well as consent to the use of cookies where provided, if not previously given, and revoke it, if already expressed, by accessing the dedicated area, present on every page of the Site.
